Do I need to post to use Freeparty?
No. You can keep a profile, follow people, browse public content, and use your account as a lightweight online presence without posting regularly.
Can I make my account private?
Yes. If private-account controls are available in your settings, you can limit profile and content visibility.
How do parental controls work for minor accounts?
A parent/guardian email can be added and verified in profile settings. When parental lock is enabled for a minor account, protected privacy/content setting changes require guardian email approval before they are applied.
How do I reset my password?
Use the account recovery flow on the login page. If you cannot access your email inbox, contact support and include your username plus the issue details.
How do I delete my account?
If a self-service delete option is not currently available, contact support and request account deletion review. Some legal/safety records may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
How do I report abuse or harmful content?
Use the in-app reporting and safety tools where available. Include links, usernames, and timestamps so moderators can review quickly.
What is the difference between block and mute?
Blocking is for stronger separation and safety. Muting reduces unwanted visibility without fully cutting off access.
Why can I not send DMs yet?
End-to-end DM send may require both participants to have compatible active keys. Check the conversation's Security & Keys menu for key readiness status.
Can support recover my encrypted DM messages if I clear cookies/local storage?
Not always. If local key material for active encrypted conversations is removed from that device, encrypted message content for that device session may be unrecoverable.
What is the difference between deactivation and deletion?
Deactivation disables access but keeps account data recoverable for up to 12 months. Deletion schedules removal with a 30-day retention window where cancellation/recovery can restore access.
How do link previews work?
Link previews may be fetched once and stored so posts can display rich previews without refetching on every page load.
Will Freeparty support federation?
The platform is being built with federation-readiness in mind, with current focus on a solid centralized experience first.
